Employees who left the City of Edmonton (“City”), for any reason besides retirement, between December 29, 2024 and May 21, 2025, you are entitled to apply for retro pay as per Article 7.02.02 of the Collective Agreement.

Deadline to apply:
Sunday, July 20, 2025

To apply, please fill out the electronic Request for Retroactive Pay form  , which will then need to be emailed or faxed to CSU 52 - please follow the instructions on the form.

If you are filling out the form electronically to submit it via email, please ensure you 'Save' the PDF after adding your information.

If you do not have a desktop device to download and fill out the form, here are a couple helpful links on how to fill it out using a smart phone:

As we do not have email addresses for every member that left the City, we are asking everyone to forward this email on to anyone you know who may be entitled to retro pay.

  MUST REQUEST FOR RETRO PAY

  • Former employees who left the City, for any reason except retirement, between December 29, 2024 and May 21, 2025.
  • Seasonal employees who worked after December 29, 2024 but have not been recalled to work.

DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST FOR RETRO PAY

  • Current employees, including those:
    • on LTD, WCB, or Approved Leaves of Absence
    • working in other jurisdictions within the City (Management, out-of-scope, a different Union)
  • Former employees who retired after December 29, 2024.

Retroactive Pay Dates

The City will implement the 2025 general wage increase and deposit retroactive pay, as follows:

  • Current Employees - August 19, 2025
  • Inactive and Past Employees, Including Retirees – September 2, 2025

Information for Current Members

The reason there is a delay with retro pay and the new wage rates being implemented is because payroll is currently processing wage increases and retro pay for other Unions that settled collective agreements before us.

All changes to major medical benefits have now been implemented with Alberta Blue Cross. This means the increased amount for psychological coverage, addition of glucose monitoring systems, and coverage for weight loss, sexual dysfunction, fertility, and hair growth drugs are now available.

If you submitted a claim for the new benefits prior to June 1, 2025, it is likely your claim will be denied as Alberta Blue Cross needed time to add the new benefits to the system. If you receive a denial, please contact the Union office for assistance as the new coverage started on May 21, 2025 (the date of ratification).

For members who require safety boots, the new amount of $200 is now available for boots purchased after May 21, 2025 (the date of ratification). Please remember to talk to your supervisor before purchasing the boots as the language in the Collective Agreement requires employees to show just cause for why they should receive a subsidy if they’ve previously received a subsidy for boots.
