COE Bargaining Update #8
Posted on 1/31/2025
Three Things to Know
- The 2021-2024 Collective Agreement is now available online.
- Non-monetary discussions continued on January 10th and 30th, 2025.
- Bargaining dates have been set up to the beginning of April.
Meetings Recap
The 2021-2024 Collective Agreement and Wage Scales are now posted on our website. When revising the Collective Agreement, both parties need to do a line-by-line review of the changes, including wage scales, which take a significant amount of time, but is also impacted by other competing priorities. Even though the Collective Agreement is expired, it continues to be in effect (also known as bridging) until a new Collective Agreement is negotiated.
Due to some staffing changes at the Union Office which caused a backlog of work, our committee needed to cancel the January 23 bargaining date, but we met with the City on January 10 and 30 for continued non-monetary discussions.
Some of the proposals we discussed were posting/filling vacancies, job evaluation review/appeal process, new employee orientation, investigation findings, dispute resolution process, reversion rights, contracting out, and recruitment. The parties also signed off some language and withdrew some proposals.
