Committee and EDLC Representative Vacancies

CSU 52 is inviting expressions of interest from Members in Good Standing to fill the following vacancies (one position each):
- Members & Community Support Committee
- Labour Advocacy Committee
- Young Workers Committee
- Financial Review Committee
- Edmonton & District Labour Council Representative
These are great opportunities for members who want to become more involved in the Union, contribute to member engagement, support CSU 52’s work, and help strengthen the Union’s connection to members, community organizations, and the broader labour movement.
All positions, other than EDLC Representative, are compensated by way of an honorarium approved by the Membership.
These vacancies will be filled by appointment of the Board of Directors under Bylaw 6.4.1, for the remainder of the current terms listed below.
No special experience is required. We are looking for members who are interested in contributing, comfortable working as part of a team, and able to attend meetings and participate in the work of the committee or representative role. Orientation and support will be provided.

Term ends January 31, 2029
The Members & Community Support Committee supports members and community organizations through
emergency member assistance, educational bursaries, course reimbursement, and donations to
registered charities, non-profit organizations, and other eligible organizations.
The Committee meets monthly, generally during work hours. Committee members must be able to handle
confidential information appropriately and participate in decision-making on sensitive member
assistance matters.
This position is compensated by way of a union leave letter or wage replacement for monthly half-day
meetings. Additionally, Committee members receive a $75 honorarium for each member assistance
interview conducted.
Term ends January 12, 2028
The Labour Advocacy Committee supports member education and engagement on the labour movement, CSU
52's history, and social unionism issues such as multiculturalism, diversity, equality, human
rights, social justice, and democracy.
The Committee's work may include researching and organizing educational material, developing or
identifying content for communications and social media, and supporting labour advocacy initiatives.
This position is compensated with a $75 honorarium per meeting attended, to a maximum of $750 per
year.
Term ends January 12, 2028
The Young Workers Committee helps build and foster relationships among young workers in CSU 52 and
encourages their involvement in the Union.
The Committee's work may include organizing young worker-focused events, helping the Union understand
what matters to young workers, promoting approved social events, and supporting member engagement
and succession planning.
This position is compensated with a $75 honorarium per meeting attended, to a maximum of $750 per
year.
Term ends January 12, 2028
The Financial Review Committee provides an arms-length review of CSU 52's financial records and
reports on the financial status of the Union to the membership.
Committee members assist with the review of financial records, including bank statements, income,
expenses, cancelled cheques, returned cheques, and supporting documentation. Members must be
available to assist with cheque reviews, including emergent cheque requests.
Members of the Board of Directors, other than the Chief Trustee, are not eligible to serve on this
Committee.
This position requires attendance at the CSU 52 office approximately once per week during business
hours. This position is compensated with a $175 monthly honorarium.
Term ends January 31, 2027
EDLC Representatives help connect CSU 52 to the broader labour movement in Edmonton. Representatives
attend EDLC meetings, represent CSU 52's interests, share information with the Union, and help
connect CSU 52 members and committees to labour education, campaigns, and activities.
The EDLC meets on the third Monday of the month, with no meeting in July. Representatives may also
choose to participate on EDLC committees, which may involve additional meetings.
This is a volunteer opportunity, with no honorarium.
