Capital Power Negotiations Committee Members

The current Collective Agreement between CSU 52 and Capital Power expired on December 18, 2021. Negotiations will commence in the 2nd quarter and therefore it is time to recruit Negotiations Committee Members.

The Negotiations Committee will consist of up to two members from our membership at Capital Power. As well, the Contractual Unit Director for Capital Power (a CSU 52 Board of Directors position) is currently vacant and we are looking for a volunteer to fill this position - the current term ends December 31, 2022; nominations for the following 2-year term will be accepted during the Board of Directors election cycle this fall. Applicants are to be active CSU 52 Members (dues-paying or on an employer-approved leave of absence) in good standing, who are confident in their ability to represent and articulate the interests, concerns and aspirations of member employees in all areas of Capital Power. Committee Members will be inclusive, collaborative, and attentive in their support of Capital Power Member employees who will contribute to the bargaining process.

Building the Process

Committee Members will:

• engage the Capital Power Membership in bargaining, work to identify issues and opportunities for collaborative action, and ensure the relevance of all proposals for bargaining;
• be responsible to attend all meetings associated with the bargaining process and will be responsible to fully contribute to research and communication tasks;
• commit to building a supportive team where individual skills are recognized and utilized.

Joe Childs (Director of Labour Relations, CSU 52) will act as Chief Negotiator and be responsible for the Committee.

Committee member selection is done by a review committee consisting of Joe Childs (Chief Negotiator), Yuri Beaulieu (Labour Relations Officer, CSU 52), and Lanny Chudyk (President, CSU 52).
