Board of Directors Nominations

Nominations Deadline:
5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024


All nominees and nominators must meet the qualifications outlined in CSU 52 Bylaws Article 5.02(a).

The nominee must:

  • Be an Active member in good standing (card-carrying)
  • †Have Shop Steward and/or Committee experience
  • †Have attended (during the period of October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024) a minimum of six (6) regularly scheduled:
    • General Membership Meetings, and/or
    • Shop Steward Training Sessions (Assembly Meetings), and/or
    • Unit Meetings of the Contractual Unit to which the nominee belongs
  • Not be an Election Officer

†Except where an acclamation is declared (when only one candidate comes forward for any position), the candidate will be "elected by acclamation." Should the acclaimed candidate not meet the above Shop Steward/Committee experience or meeting attendance qualifications, the candidate will be elected to the Board with full voting privileges. See CSU 52 Bylaws Article 5.02(e).

CSU 52 Constitution Article 8.01 (b):

  • After two consecutive terms in office, Director(s) may not be re-elected to the same position until they have one full term break in service.
  • If there are no other nominees for the position, the Director may be re-elected by acclamation according to Bylaws Article 5.02(e), providing the timed-out incumbent Director has submitted completed nomination papers according to Bylaws Article 5.02(a)(ii).
  • This clause does not exclude Directors from running for a different position on the Board of Directors from the one they currently hold.
  • If the timed-out incumbent Director does not put their nomination forward at the October General Meeting, according to bylaw requirements, and no other member(s) put their name forward, then the position will be declared vacant and filled according to Constitution Article 8.03.

Nominate a Member

President

Incumbent:  Lanny Chudyk

Term ending December 31, 2024 (is incumbent's 2nd or more consecutive full term in the position)


CSU 52 Bylaws Article 2.02:

The President shall:

  • preside at all meetings of the Union and all meetings of the Board of Directors;
  • be an ex-officio member of all Committees, except the Discipline and Grievance Appeal Committees;
  • appoint all Committees not otherwise ordered;
  • sign all orders on the Treasury when ordered by the Union;
  • transact such other business as may pertain to the President's office, and which may be necessary for the proper functioning of the Union.

Accepting Your Nomination

Nominees, if you would like to accept your nomination:

  1. If you cannot attend the October General Membership Meeting, you must inform the Assistant Returning Officer in writing prior to 1:30 p.m. on October 1, 2024 by filling out and submitting the Acceptance of Nomination Form 
    • This can be done even before you receive the minimum requirement of three nominations (the deadline to nominate is 5:30 p.m. on October 1, 2024)
  2. And/or verbally accept your nomination when asked during the October 1 General Membership Meeting (must be in attendance)

Should a Discipline Committee or Grievance Appeal Committee member (with a term ending December 2025) be elected to the Board of Directors, their committee position must be vacated prior to serving office as a Board Member.
