Civic Service Union 52 is proud to join in the celebrations of the contributions of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community alongside our members, friends, and family.
Galvanized after the Stonewall Uprising, the Pride movement was born from protest against police harassment and social discrimination. Lesbians, gays, transgender people, and sexual minorities throughout the world continue to unite through resistance and political activism. Today, this resistance and political activism has grown into a broad-based solidarity that unites against oppression and fights for those facing homophobic, transphobic, and bi-phobic violence and harassment.
CSU 52 calls for solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and encourages participation in Pride events. Virtual events are being offered by the Pride Centre of Edmonton during this pandemic. You can find more information at the Centre’s website.
