CSU 52 is seeking Expressions of Interest from City of Edmonton members to serve on the City of Edmonton One Wage Scale Advocacy Committee.
This temporary member committee was created by the Membership to support advocacy and mobilization work aimed at ending the City of Edmonton’s use of different pay scales for members in the same classification doing the same work.
Purpose of the Committee
The Committee will:
- Develop strategies for action and member mobilization in support of a single wage scale for each City of Edmonton classification represented by CSU 52
- Help educate and engage members about the impacts of multiple wage scales on fairness, equity, recruitment and retention
- Support and complement CSU 52's bargaining and advocacy work with practical ideas and member-driven campaigns
- Work with the City of Edmonton Contractual Unit Director and an assigned member of CSU 52 office staff to develop and execute these strategies and member education efforts
Composition and Representation
The Committee will be composed of six CSU 52 members in Good Standing who are employed by the City of Edmonton.
We are looking for participation from a broad range of City departments, work areas, and classifications. Members from all branches and work locations are encouraged to apply, including front line, technical, professional, and supervisory (in-scope) roles.
Time Commitment and Honorarium
- Up to ten Committee meetings per calendar year, plus preparation time and occasional follow up work between meetings.
- Meetings are scheduled based on the availability of Committee members, typically on weekday evenings or weekends. Meetings may be in-person or virtual as determined by the Committee.
- Leave letters or wage replacement are not provided for standard Committee meetings. In exceptional cases, where special projects or activities require members to participate during their regular work hours, leave letters or wage replacement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Members serving on this committee will earn the standard CSU 52 committee honorarium of seventy-five dollars ($75) per meeting attended, to a maximum of ten meetings per year, in accordance with CSU 52 policy.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- Be a CSU 52 Member in Good Standing
- Be employed by the City of Edmonton
- Be able to attend most meetings and participate respectfully in committee work
- Not already be sitting on two member committees that earn honorariums (CSU 52 Bylaw 6.2.4)
No prior committee experience is required. Training, context, and support will be provided.
Term
Committee members will be appointed for a one-year term.
The Board's intention is to renew this work on a yearly basis. Before each new term, CSU 52 will issue a renewed Expression of Interest call. Current Committee members may submit an EOI to be considered for reappointment, and new members may also apply. The Board may reappoint some or all existing members, appoint new members, or a mix of both.
The Committee itself is temporary. It will continue until it is dissolved in accordance with the motion adopted by the Membership or by decision of the Membership and Board under the CSU 52 Bylaws and policy.
How to Apply
To submit an Expression of Interest, please complete the online EOI form below by 11:59 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026.
You will be asked to answer a few brief questions about your interest and background. The CSU 52 Board of Directors will review all submissions and appoint six members to the Committee.
