Capital Power | Nov 19 Update

Information regarding Capital Power Negotiations will be posted here.

Updated November 19, 2019

Posted November 19, 2019

This information is intended for CSU 52 members and for CPC Managers who oversee unionized staff falling within the CSU 52 Bargaining Unit.

This update has been jointly issued by the Company and the Union. The purpose of this communication is to provide an update on the progress of negotiations. This Bargaining Update communication process will continue throughout the CSU 52 / CPC Bargaining process.

The Parties met in Edmonton on September 16th, October 28th and October 29th. The parties exchanged proposals and set an initial agenda for discussions. The parties then reviewed and discussed several proposals during the three days. Discussion at the table was constructive and the parties were able to reach agreement on some items. The review and discussion of remaining items will continue at the next set of meetings.

Our next meetings are scheduled for November 25th and 26th.

As a reminder, the content of discussions at negotiations will be held in confidence until a Memorandum of Agreement is reached. Collective bargaining is a sensitive process, and when dialogue occurs away from the bargaining table, it can jeopardize the success of negotiations.

Please respect this by NOT asking your bargaining team members about collective bargaining.

The two bargaining teams will work diligently to reach a settlement that reflects the interests of both parties. We will advise you when a Memorandum of Agreement has been achieved. Additional Bargaining Updates will be provided as negotiations progress.

 ‘Update #1’

Capital Power Members, the current Collective Agreement between Capital Power and Civic Service Union 52 expired on December 23, 2018. Your Negotiations Committee is preparing for negotiations and we need your input. To do so, we are conducting a survey.

We ask that you take your time in completing the Negotiations Survey, as we need to enter the negotiations process well informed and with real examples of issues that our Members are facing.

The survey must not be completed during regular working hours – please use your own time before or after work, or during your scheduled work breaks – the survey is smartphone compatible.

Accessing the Survey

  1. Go to:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CSU52-CapPow2019
  2. A case-sensitive password is required to proceed. If you did not receive an email with this information, please contact the Union Office at 780-448-8900 or info@csu52.org
  3. You will have until 11:45 p.m. MST of Wednesday, May 15, 2019 to complete the survey. After this time, the survey will be disabled. Please note that it will take 5-10 minutes to complete. If you exit the survey without completing/submitting it, you will lose your answers and will have to restart the survey.

While the Union has sent this survey out through work email addresses, only the Union has access to the survey responses. Any personal information that is provided will be kept confidential.

If you experience any difficulties with the survey, please call the Union office at 780-448-8900.
