Do you have children classified as dependents who are 18 years of age or older? If so, Employee Services needs to know by Friday September 25, 2020 to keep benefit coverage for your dependents.

“The Benefits Team of the Employee Service Centre is required to validate employee dependents, over the age of 18, each year,” says Andrew Alves, Acting Manager of Pensions, Benefits and Employee Transactions. He adds, “This process ensures we have your dependents’ information and whether you do, or do not require benefits coverage.” Employee Services sent out a letter on September 8 by mail to your home or by email to your City of Edmonton Gmail account. The letter lists the names of the dependents who will be 18 years of age, or over, by December 31, 2020.

Benefit coverage for these dependents can continue only if they fall in one of the following categories:

  • Unmarried dependents between the ages of 18 and 20 inclusive, and chiefly dependent on you for support.

  • Unmarried dependents between the ages of 21 and 24 inclusive, and attending school full-time (minimum 3 courses). A copy of the student’s 2020/2021 Timetable showing full-time attendance is required to be sent to

For additional information about benefits, please call Inside Information at 780-944-4311, select option 2 (Employee Service Centre), and then option 3 to speak to the Benefits Team.
