Union Governance & Democracy: Members Make the Decisions
Being part of a union means you have a voice in how your union is run. Union governance is built on democracy, transparency, and member participation. That means:
- You Elect Your Leaders: Members vote to elect their union executive (Board members) and Shop Stewards. These leaders are accountable to you.
- You Shape Union Policy: Through Regular Membership Meetings, bargaining surveys, and votes, members decide what priorities the union fights for at the table and in the workplace.
- You Approve Budgets and Dues: Members review and approve how union dues are spent—it's your money, and you get a say in how it’s used.
- You Can Get Involved: Whether it’s joining a committee, running for a position, or speaking up at meetings, your participation strengthens our collective voice.
The union is not just something you belong to—it’s something you help shape. Your involvement is what makes union democracy real.
